Josh Brolin isn’t having it

Josh Brolin takes a no-nonsense approach behind the camera for the first time on his Amazon Prime show "Outer Range." In an interview with Esquire, Brolin shared how directing was thrust upon him due to his skills and sensibilities.

“There were a lot of interests that I’ve had through the decades that I never really understood,” Brolin said. “When I directed, I was able to funnel it all into one place without trying to force it. My whole life made sense.”

Brolin emphasized that he’s not quitting acting but enjoys the communal and experimental nature of directing. He also mentioned his disdain for actors who don’t show up to set due to their supposed creativity or sensitivity.

Brolin expressed a longing to create work that transports people without force-feeding a message. Reflecting on his career, he added, “I’m happy with this time. It’s my version of a midlife crisis, and I really like it. We’re moving out of L.A., directing, writing a play, and got a book coming out in November. What matters is manifesting whatever it is I feel, and it’s been a great liberation.”

Behind the Screens

Let’s take a closer look at one of the most exciting television watching experiences. Baby Reindeer: probably the most relevant thing you can watch right now.

True stories come with real people, however
and they’re not all happy about it’s success.

What We’re Watching This Weekend

đŸŽ„ Thumbs hurt? Toss the controller and watch the story unfold instead. For your video game inspired fix, Fallout on Prime is shaking up some atoms.

đŸŽ„ If you’re in the mood to hop into a main stay show as it reboots (yet again) Dr. Who keeps on keeping on.

đŸŽ„ Think Collin Farrell is underrated? We agree. Catch him doing work in Sugar on Apple tv+. Bonus: Amy Ryan continues to find her way into the interesting projects.

đŸŽ„ Shogun is A+++ tv. Two more seasons are on the way. Catch the first season now (on FX) so you can say you knew it would blow up.
